Art Detectives

Yesterday while visiting the Kr ö ller-Müller Museum we accidentally, by artistic design! .... ran into the work of Jan Toorop. This Dutch / Indonesian artist born near Sumatra, studied art in the Netherlands & lived throughout Europe. This versatile artist works in a myriad of styles and media and we were all bowled over by his brilliance.  The Top of the Day is his Portret van Marie Jeanette de Lange, 1900  The Three Brides, 1892-1893 -- link --  OOPS! During Beth's sublime meeting Monday, Eliahou-Erik Bokobza was one of her featured artists. We delved into the artistry of self-taught Maria Pryjmachenko, one of the most famous artists of Ukraine. Today we looked at the work of self-taught painter, Anna Mary Roberts Moses, also known as Grandma Moses. She began painting at 78 and became world renowned.
