Ruth's Icelandic Art & Architecture Photos

Image
Photos of  Hallgrímskirkja  -- the largest church in Iceland. Ruth gets different angles here.  Ruth got great pics of the natural basalt formations that formed the inspiration for the design of the church.  Interior of the church with the big pipe organ.  Check out the entry in Wikipedia about the church, its history & criticisms (can you imagine???) Very detailed write-up about the pipe organ as well.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallgr%C3%ADmskirkja Ruth found out the Burden of History sculpture was done by Magnus Tomasson -- you will see one of his famous sculptures on Friday's blog as well. Elves!!! Ruth photographed this witchy sculpture complete with cauldron outside of several homes. The animal skins form the body of this tall sorceress! Architecture & art collide Graffiti -- perhaps by sound engineers?  Wonderfully graffitied building in a small town in Iceland.  LGBTQ representation in this tiny town welcomes everyone.  Park Sculptures HugList! A tall rider.  T
