Katje sent in this contemporary artist so we explored her work today.  Top of the Day is Donna a rider on the Staten Island Ferry whom Griselda sketched first in charcoal   then used pastels (above) to bring her to life.  We enjoyed looking at her paintings -- link --  And her sculptures -- link --  But her pastels knocked us OUT! -- link --  Here is her website with a few more tidbits and info about her -- link --  For a quick change of pace at the end, we looked at this entry from Zenobia of an illustrator with stars in his (and now our!) eyes! -- link --  And lots of cats -- a missive Katje sent to celebrate cats in art -- link --

Met Gala Art!

Image
Today we looked at the fashion of the 2002 Met Gala. The theme was Gilded Glamour & there was a wide array of what folks & designers considered, "Gilded." We found something to love about (almost) everything!  SO many great looks but at least for some of us, this was the Top of the Day! Singer, rapper, activist Cardi B in a mile-long golden chain dress by Versace. ONE mile of chains!!!! Talented, gorgeous & she's got to have super strength as that gown must weigh a ton. Hahah!  Vanessa Hudgens in a spectacular Moschino design is another favorite.  And a splash of color from Michelle Yeoh in this gown by American designer Prabal Gurung Many others to discover & some we viewed today (our CNN link crops many of the dresses egregiously!) we will see much more of on Thursday!
