Spent Most of the day at Kroller Muller Museum in Google Arts and Culture.
If you are looking for a museum that combines art and nature, you might want to visit the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, Netherlands. The museum is located in the Hoge Veluwe National Park, a beautiful natural area with forests, heathlands and sand dunes. The museum has a rich collection of paintings by Vincent van Gogh and other modern masters, as well as a sculpture garden that showcases contemporary artworks.
The Kröller-Müller Museum was founded by Helene Kröller-Müller, a wealthy art collector who had a passion for Vincent van Gogh's paintings. She bought over 200 of his works, making her one of his biggest patrons. She also collected works by artists such as Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondrian. In 1935, she donated her entire collection to the Dutch state, with the condition that a museum would be built to display it.
The museum opened in 1938, with a building designed by Belgian architect Henry van de Velde. The museum has since expanded with a new wing by Wim Quist in 1977 and two pavilions by Gerrit Rietveld and Aldo van Eyck in the sculpture garden. The sculpture garden covers more than 75 acres (30 hectares) and features over 160 sculptures by artists such as Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Jean Dubuffet and Claes Oldenburg.
The Kröller-Müller Museum is a place where you can enjoy art and nature in harmony. You can admire Van Gogh's masterpieces such as Café Terrace at Night or Sorrowing Old Man (At Eternity's Gate), or explore the sculpture garden with its diverse forms and materials. You can also rent a bike from the park entrance and cycle through the scenic landscape around the museum.
